George A. Johnson, 90, from Beecher, Illinois, passed Saturday April 1, 2017 in Dyer, Indiana.  George was born October 19, 1926 to George and Bertha Johnson in Chicago, Illinois.  He was married to Dorothy I. Klepatz.  George worked on a cattle ranch in Wyoming before returning to Illinois where he became a carpenter and eventually starting his own general contracting business building homes, Jack –In-The Box restaurants and warehouses.   After retiring he drove as an escort for oversize semi loads.  His unconditional love for animals and theirs for him was unmatched.  He felt blessed and treasured for his many wonderful friendships over his lifetime.  He is survived by his daughter Janna Johnson of Joliet, Illinois, two sons: Jeffrey Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada and Russell (Patricia) Johnson of East Moline, Illinois.  Other survivors include friends Bill Muirhead, Don Berg and family, Joan Gamble and so many really special people. Preceding in death are his wife Dorothy October 7, 2012, his parents and one sister Muriel.  Visitation will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher, Illinois from 3 until 5 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 5 p.m.  Burial is private.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to The Anti-Cruelty Society or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
