Brian Legge

Brian Thomas Legge, 69, of Grant Park, formerly of Beecher, where he continued to spend his days slowly cruising town in the old BTL, passed away June 8th, 2022 in Chicago. He was born January 20th, 1953 in Chicago to Tom and Shirley Legge. He attended Beecher schools through 8th grade, and reluctantly attended high school in Delafield, WI at St. John's Military Academy. Despite going AWOL and claiming to be in misery the whole time he was there, he rarely missed an opportunity to go back for various school events, and the school remained his favorite place on Earth. He went on to graduate from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. He made his living in sales. In 1978 he married the former Debbie Maddrill. Just about the only good thing that resulted from that union was his daughter, Elizabeth Ann, born in 1979. If you knew him, you knew Brian was a very unique individual. Anyone who ever sat and had a beer with him (even though he would be standing), would no doubt have heard many stories about the shenanigans of his younger years, and some of you likely took part in them. He had a love of classic rock and anything trivia. He was a wealth of useless and not so useless knowledge and very under-utilized talent. He was always in for a game of Trivial Pursuit and tuned in to Jeopardy every day. In case he didn't already make everyone aware, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and best friend, Kathy Von Alven, and his brother-in-law Bud Von Alven. Brian is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Billy) Courtney, grandsons Brandon, Daren, and Thomas Courtney (who he just missed by 11 days), nephews Aaron (Danielle) Von Alven and Eric Von Alven, niece Kirsten (John) Hammock, special great nephew, roomie, and sidekick Reid Von Alven, and many other great nieces and nephews. We ask that you please read this obit with a bit of a sense of humor. Dad was always one for making serious situations a little lighter, and we know he would be getting a kick out of our tribute to him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to go toward purchasing a niche in the Columbarium at St. John's.
