Holly Elizabeth Thorne, 42, of Lowell, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. We mourn the passing of Holly Thorne, born on October 4, 1983, a beloved daughter, fiancée, mother, sister, and friend whose warmth, intelligence, and compassion touched all who knew her. Holly was a proud alumna of Governors State University, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her passion for helping others, particularly children, defined her professional life and brought her immense fulfillment. Holly’s dedication to her work was matched only by her genuine kindness and empathy—she was known for her sweet nature, her ability to make others smile, and her talent for listening with a caring heart. Holly is survived by her cherished son, Riley Alan Hemphill, and her devoted fiancé, Keith McNeeley, with whom she was happily beginning a new chapter in her life. She will be deeply missed by her mother, Linda Thorne of Peotone, and is reunited in rest with her father, Donald Thorne, who passed away in 2020. Holly’s memory will also be treasured by her siblings: Darrell Thorne, his wife Jackie, and their daughters; Judith and Brianna; and Donald Thorne, his wife Joy, and their sons Rain and Nicholas, and her ex-husband Jeff Hemphill. Beyond her professional and family life, Holly found joy in many hobbies. She loved playing games such as Minecraft and Call of Duty with her son Riley, driving her beloved Mustang Athena, and expressing herself through singing and music. A dancer in her younger years, Holly carried a lifelong love of movement and melody. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her son Riley, whose happiness was her greatest joy. Holly’s life was a testament to kindness, empathy, and the joy of giving to others. She will be remembered for her radiant spirit, her unwavering support of those she loved, and the light she brought into every room. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hack-Jensen Funeral Home in Beecher. At 7:00 PM, food and refreshments will be provided for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis, Indiana.
