Scott E Schmitt

Scott Eric Schmitt, age 64, of Mokena, IL passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Park Ridge Healthcare Center in Park Ridge, IL following a long illness. He was born in Chicago Heights, IL on Sunday, July 2, 1961; son of Robert (Bob) Earnest and Donna Clarie (Rispens) Schmitt. He was a graduate of Lincoln Way High School in New Lenox, IL. Scott was a very loving person and enjoyed helping others. He was a longtime resident of Trinity Services Group Home at Route 6 in Mokena, IL with best staff that anyone could ever want. He worked for the Trinity Services Distribution Center. He loved working and receiving paychecks so as to always have $200 in his bank account. He was also very active with softball, golf, bowling, dancing, and gatherings with family and friends. He would just light up a room with his happy, loving, social bug self. He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ in Beecher, IL. and says “me pray, me pray, me pray, it makes me heart so happy”. Scott was so very proud to be an Uncle. He would now say “me uncle, 13 times”. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He will be missed by so many! Surviving is one brother, Kurt (Marla) Schmitt of Monett, MO; 1 niece and 3 nephews; Austin Chapman of Olathe, KS, Heather (Nathan) Barnes of Mt. Olive, AL, Brandon (Chelsea) Chapman of Lebanon, MO, Alex (Zoe) Schmitt of Overland Park, KS; 9 great nieces and nephews; Rylee Schmitt of Mt. Olive, AL, Deagan and Abigail Chapman of Olathe, KS, Deklan, Ellis, Audrey, Wednesday and Otto Chapman of Lebanon, MO, and Henry Schmitt of Overland Park, KS; his Route 6 House Family and many other family and friends. He will be welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Bob and Donna Schmitt who preceded him in death. The family will have a visitation service at Hack Jensen Funeral Home in Beecher, IL on March 20, 2026 from 9-11am directly followed by a funeral/memorial service on March, 20, 2026 at 11am with Reverand Jeffery Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In honor of Scott Memorials may be made to Trinity Services, Inc. in New Lenox, IL.
