Wynnette P Berger

Wynnette "Pam" Berger, age 73, born on April 21, 1952, in Chicago, IL, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her large and devoted family. She was a devoted wife of over forty years, a proud mother, and a beloved granny to many. Granny was a force of nature - hardworking, funny, and endlessly playful. She put her heart and soul into everything she did, whether it was raising her family, caring for her horses, or embracing the fast - paced energy of rodeo life. She wasn't afraid of a challenge, and her determination showed in the way she tackled everything head-on. Her heart had no limits- she welcomed everyone with warmth, encouragement, kindness, and love. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like family, blood or not. Her door was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her advice was freely given with love and wisdom. But along with her strong work ethic, Pam had an incredible sense of humor. She knew how to lighten the mood, crack a joke just when it was needed, and remind everyone around her not to take life too seriously. Whether it was teasing her loved ones, sharing a laugh over something silly, or just bringing joy into everyday moments, she had a way of making life more fun. Her playful spirit was contagious - she could turn any situation into an adventure, always finding ways to bring excitement and happiness to those around her. She lived fully, loved fiercely, and left behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and the unstoppable energy of a life well-lived. Pam was the founder and strongest supporter of Chasing Cans for Cancer, a cause she created and championed long through before her own illness. Known far and wide as the "rodeo granny," she mothered and mentored many young riders through the Illinois High School and Junior High Rodeo circuits. She is survived by her loving husband, William Berger; her brother William Hansen and his wife Barbara; and her beloved fur baby, Dolly Berger. Her legacy lives on through her children and their families: Son Christopher and Amy Sluis, Daughter Robyn Fiegle and her boyfriend Damon Burns, Son in-law Dave Fiegle, Son William and Kristen Berger, Daughter Melissa and Paul Boros, Daughter Jennifer Berger and boyfriend Mike Shotzman, Daughter Kayla and Larry Pempek, Son Harry and Alexandra Berger, Daughter Francesca Berger and her boyfriend Adam Swanson, and many nieces and nephews. Pam was "Granny" to adoring grandchildren: Noah and Claire Sluis; Brynn Fiegle; Annalie, Brody, Charlotte, and Colton Berger; Declan Berger; and her "mama's boy" Pempek. Her love also reached beyond her family, as she took in and cared for so many others as her own. Pam was preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Winifred Hansen; her cherished daughter Kristina; her son-in-law Tim Lade; and her grandchildren Bridget Perry, Joshua Perry, and Jacob Lade. We know she rides on in the heavens above with her first horse, Rebel. She will be deeply missed, but her laughter and joyful spirit will live on in the memories of those who love her. A Celebration of Life and Visitation will be held at her home, 2915 E Kentucky Rd, Beecher, IL 60401. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chasing Cans for Cancer in Pam's honor.
