James O O'Grady

January 16, 1936 ~ December 16, 2017 (age 81)

James O. O'Grady, 81 of Beecher, IL passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home December 16, 2017. Jim was born on January 16, 1936 in Abrams, WI, the son of Lovell and Melva O'Grady (nee Beckendorf). He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeanette (nee Kolar), whom he married on November 25, 1961 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Chicago Heights, IL. He is also survived by his children Kevin (Mary) O'Grady of Rockton, IL and Kathleen O'Grady of Beecher and his grandchildren Kellen, Patrick (Mimi), Madalyn and Catherine O'Grady and Shaun Hughes.  Two sisters, Joan Schmitt of Homewood, IL and Judith La Spesa of Bethel Park, PA, also survive. Jim graduated from Bloom Township High School and attended the University of Illinois.  Jim was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, Peotone, IL, where he served as a lector, Parish Council member and a member of the Knights of Columbus and was also a member of the Beecher Sportsmen's Club. Jim worked at H & R Industries in Beecher for many years until his retirement.  He enjoyed photography, boating, music, dancing   and the outdoors. Jim always had a good story or joke to share with everyone. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 3-8 p.m. at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher.  Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Peotone with Father Rodger Kutzner officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul Cemetery in Beecher. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Paul Knights of Columbus or St. Paul Cemetery Association.
