Kenneth Steinhagen

April 26, 1929 ~ December 4, 2017 (age 88)

Kenneth “Kenny” Steinhagen, 88, Beecher, Illinois, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 4, 2017 in Olympia Fields, Illinois.  Kenneth was born April 26, 1929 in Shannon, Illinois the son of Frederick and Alice nee DeWall Steinhagen. 

He was a United States Marine Corps veteran (served from 1952-54) and worked for The Illinois Central Railroad.   He married Thelma nee Lee on November 25, 1949 who still survives.  Kenneth was the fire chief for Dixmoor, Illinois for 30 years, Village Trustee for one year, Mayor of Dixmoor from 1989-92,and school board member of District 147 for a year. He is a current member of the American Legion Doss-Malone Post #1200 in Monee and a past member of Moose Lodge.

He enjoyed attending and watching NASCAR, traveling, camping, serving the community and his grandson James.

Surviving are his wife Thelma of Beecher, Debra (Donald) Radtke of Crete, Illinois and one grandson James Radtke. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his son Gary Lee Steinhagen, (passed in 1951), his parents, sister Delores Gann and a half brother Robert Folk. 

Visitation will be at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm and funeral services will be at Hack Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Joel Dietrich of St. John’s Lutheran Church.   Entombment will be in Skyline Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Garden of Peace located at 24800 S. Governors Highway, Monee, IL 60449.In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.  Information call Hack Funeral Home, 708-946-2161
