Douglas Ray Johnson, 78, passed away on June 1, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Beecher, IL. He was born on June 25, 1942, in Chicago, IL to Ray and Dorothy Johnson. He was one of four children. He graduated from Chicago Vocational High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in June, 1961. He was stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota for two years and then at the Miles City 902nd Air Force Base in Montana until his honorable discharge in July, 1965. While stationed in Miles City, MT, he met and married the love of his life, Patricia, in July, 1965. They were married for 55 years. They have two daughters, Kathleen and Laura. Douglas is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters Kathleen (Sheldon) Weiss and Laura (Daniel) Doetterl. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Kevin (Xiomara), Brittany (Hubert), Kyle, Taylor, and Nicole; two brothers-in-law, Eugene (Darlene) Keller and James Isbell; his nephew, Raymond (Amelia) Isbell. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother William, and sister Joyce. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and travel. He was always a hard working man and loved to build things in his spare time. He became quite the woodworker. He valued family and education and was a friend to everyone he met. Visitation will take place Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Hack-Jensen Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be Friday, June 4, 2021 at Hack-Jensen Funeral Home with visitation at 11am until the funeral service at 12pm. Pastor Tom Ewing will officiate. Burial will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Beecher Fire Department.
