Elmer Carl Becker 92, of Beecher Illinois, passed away on October 14 while driving a tractor to help his son Bruce harvest crops. He often said that he was happiest when farming, which he did for his entire working life. Elmer was born on February 23, 1923 to William and Minnie (Wilheminia) nee Schultz in Lansing Illinois. On August 7, 1955 Elmer and Helen nee Nissen were married. Helen preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by parents William and Minnie Becker, a brother who died in infancy, and sister-in-law Marlene Nissen. He is survived by his three children, Karen (Brian) Hott, Nancy Becker, and Bruce Becker; four grandchildren, Anna (Ben) Grimes, Amy (Jason) Moore, Erin and Justin Hott; and his brother William (Susie) Becker and brother-in-law Leslie Nissen and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Elmer worked for many years at R. L. Reising in Beecher. He was very active at Zion Lutheran Church in Beecher for many years and was a faithful dart ball team member. He loved to travel; he and Helen enjoyed traveling for many years during their retirement. After Helen’s death, he took every opportunity to continue traveling with his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, from 3pm-8pm at Hack Funeral Home 753 Hodges Street in Beecher Illinois. The funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church 540 Oak Park Avenue in Beecher, Illinois at 11am on Monday October 19 with Pastor Ronald Rock officiating.
