November 21, 1957 - May 11, 2022
Staria Lianne Lang, passed from this life to her eternal rest on May 11, 2022. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, May 14, at the Park Forest Church of Christ, 4010 206th St. in Matteson, Illinois, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. Graveside services will be at the Skyline Cemetery Chapel in Monee, Illinois, at 11:00 AM Monday, May 15, with burial to follow. Lianne was born November 21, 1957, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and grew up in Crete, Illinois, where she graduated from Crete-Monee High School in 1976. Lianne was a strong athlete and she played volleyball at Pepperdine University for one year before transferring to Abilene Christian University where she graduated with a BS in physical education in 1980. She began her career as a teacher at Crete-Monee High School. An astute businesswoman and entrepreneur, she served as Vice President for Service Keystone Supply before retiring to manage her investments. Lianne gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Rockford Christian Camp when she was 12 years old and her faith remained the founding principle of her life thereafter. She was actively involved with a local church wherever she lived. She had a lifelong relationship with the Park Forest Church of Christ in Matteson, Illinois. Her life was forever changed in February 1992 when she was in an automobile accident which left her a quadriplegic. Although she was confined to a wheelchair for 30 years, she never let her disability define her life. She remained active and involved in the lives of her church, family and many friends. She deeply appreciated the loyal and loving service of Felicia Jackson who served as her full-time caregiver for over 28 years. Perhaps her proudest achievement was being a mother to her son, Caleb, who graduated from Harding University and the University of Arkansas School of Law, and now serves as an attorney in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Lianne was preceded in death by her father, Jim Avey and brother, Justin Avey. She is survived by her son, Caleb Lang, sister and brother-in-law Valinda and John Tyson of Montgomery, Alabama, and sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Steve Link of Bartlett, Illinois, brother Greg Avey of St. John, Indiana, sister-in-law Joan Avey of Wayne, Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Her family wishes to express appreciation to Felicia Jackson, Sharon Tuftedal, Micheal Irwin, Andrea Switzer and the many other wonderful caregivers who served Lianne so well over the past 30 years.
