Irmgard F Boot

Irmgard "Irmy" Frieda Boot (née Gronbach), aged 87, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Crete, Illinois. Born on February 20, 1938, in Poughkeepsie, New York, to Carl Gronbach and Elsie F. Gronbach (née Baust), Irmy was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, admired for her generosity, honesty, and deep-rooted love for family and animals. She was the cherished wife of the late Cornelius William Boot. The two were married on June 4, 1961, and shared over six decades of love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they built a life grounded in family and mutual respect. Irmy was the youngest of three sisters—preceded in death by her sister Elsie Swenson and survived by her sister Margie Minshell. She is also survived by her son, Alexander Neil Boot, and cherished grandson, Theodore Cornelius Boot. Early in her life, Irmy worked as a bank teller, where her attention to detail and strong work ethic stood out. After becoming a mother, she devoted herself fully to raising her son before later returning to work at the local Kmart. What began as a way to stay active turned into a meaningful chapter of friendships and community involvement. Irmy had a profound love for animals, especially cats, and was a regular donor to animal welfare organizations. She cared deeply for the well-being of others and never hesitated to help when she could—often giving selflessly and without hesitation. Known for her straightforward nature, Irmy never sugarcoated her thoughts but always spoke from the heart. She valued cleanliness and order, took pride in her home, and had a natural talent for keeping things just so. Jeans were her uniform of choice, especially when working outside, which she enjoyed greatly. Irmy was a traditional soul—family-oriented, dependable, and a loyal friend. She appreciated the simple things in life and found joy in caring for her loved ones. Her strength, kindness, and quiet wisdom left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A celebration of Irmy's life will be held on May 18th, 2025, at Hack-Jensen Funeral Home, located at 753 Hodges St, Beecher, IL 60401. Visitation will be held from 1PM to 3PM, followed by a service at 3PM. A luncheon will subsequently honor Irmy’s memory and the love she shared so freely. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations to an animal charity of one’s choice. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those whose lives she touched.
